About us

"Explore Neretva with us – your gateway to captivating history, culture, and nature. Our curated tours promise an unforgettable journey through the heart of Croatia."

Neretva Tour Agency

The tourist agency Neretva Tour was founded in 2016. We are located in the center of the city of Opuzen, in the heart of the Neretva delta.

So far, we have successfully engaged in organizing excursions in our region and surroundings.

Our main activity is organizing mandarin harvests in various forms and durations of trips (day/ multi-day).

We offer daily trips to Dubrovnik, Međugorje, Mostar, and in the Neretva region, our program includes Photo Safari, hiking tours, bird watching, kiting, sports fishing, and cycling tours.

Starting this year, we are introducing additional activities to complement our offer, allowing you to experience active sports: canoeing, fitness, cycling with precise maps of the broader area, and sports fishing.

Our goal is to present this beautiful and fertile valley of the Neretva River to as many nature enthusiasts as possible and make the Neretva Delta a significant and prominent tourist destination on the Croatian tourism map.

Neretva river

The Neretva is a river 225 km long, flowing primarily through Bosnia and Herzegovina (203 km) and, to a lesser extent, through Croatia (22 km) before it empties into the Adriatic Sea. In its upper course, until Čapljina, the Neretva is a canyon river, and west of Konjic, it flows into the Jablanica reservoir.

From the sea coast to Metković (20 km), the Neretva is navigable. From Opuzen, it divides into twelve branches forming its delta, and it flows into the Adriatic Sea near Rogotin and Ploče.

  • The Neretva was the battleground for the Battle of the Neretva, one of the famous battles of World War II in the European Southeast.
  • Every year, on the second Saturday in August, the Neretva hosts the well-known tourist-sporting spectacle, the Neretva Boat Marathon.
  • It is a renowned cultivation area for mandarins, watermelons, tomatoes, grapes, and numerous other agricultural products.
  • Exceptionally rich in eels, which, along with frogs, are an integral part of the most famous local gastronomic specialty, the Neretva Stew.

In the heart of the Neretva Delta, the annual mandarin harvests paint the landscape with bursts of vibrant orange. Bathed in the warm glow of autumn, local farmers gather to handpick these sun-ripened citrus treasures from orchards that thrive in the region's unique microclimate influenced by the nearby Adriatic Sea.

This yearly tradition not only yields a bountiful harvest but also fosters a sense of community and pride in the Neretva Delta's agricultural heritage. The succulent mandarins, celebrated for their juiciness and sweetness, become a symbol of sustainable farming and cultural richness as they make their way from the orchards to local markets, embodying the essence of Croatian agricultural traditions.

The Neretva Delta, once a submerged marvel, is a testament to the tireless efforts of nature and human ingenuity. Over centuries, sediment carried by the Neretva River gradually accumulated, reclaiming land from the Adriatic Sea. Ingenious irrigation systems were devised by locals, transforming the marshy terrain into fertile grounds ideal for cultivation. Today, as mandarins flourish in this reclaimed delta, the story of its emergence from the sea adds an extra layer of historical richness to the annual mandarin harvests.
